Kazuomi Kario graduated from Jichi Medical School in 1986. He is currently Professor and Chairman of Cardiovascular Medicine, and Professor of the Department of Sleep and Circadian Cardiology, Jichi Medical University School of Medicine, Japan, and is Staff Visiting Professor, Institute of Cardiovascular Science, University College London, London, UK and Visiting Professor, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. He founded “Hypertension Cardiovascular Outcome Prevention and Evidence in Asia (HOPE Asia Network)” in 2015. Dr Kario and his team were the first to demonstrate “morning surge” in blood pressure (BP) as an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease in 2003 (Kario et al. Circulation 2003). He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of this journal (Current Hypertension Reviews, CHR) and is an editorial board member of more than 15 international journals. He has published more than 600 academic papers.

Prof. Guido Grassi is Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the Clinica Medica of the University of Milano-Bicocca, and Director of the Clinica Medica Institute at S. Gerardo Hospital-Monza/Milano (Italy). Director of the Post-graduate School of Internal Medicine and of the PHD course in Public Health, University of Milan-Bicocca. He has been Vice-Chairman (2002-2004) and then Chairman (2004-2006) of the Working Group “Hypertension and the Heart” of the European Society of Cardiology. He has been Treasurer and then Secretary of the Italian Society of Hypertension (2004-2007). In 2006-2007 he has been member of the Task Force of the European Society of Hypertension/European Society of Cardiology for the 2007 Guidelines on Hypertension. In 2007 he has been appointed “ Wright Lecturer” at the Annual Meeting of the High Blood Pressure Council of Australia. Member of the Scientific Council of the International Society of Hypertension for the periods 2008-2012 and 2012-2016. Member of the Scientific Council of the European Society of Hypertension 2013-2016. In 2009 he has received the Bjorn Folkow Award and Lecture from the European Society of Hypertension. His research areas include the pathophysiology, clinical pharmacology and treatment of hypertension, obesity and metabolic syndrome, cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure. He has published more than 500 original papers and reviews in major scientific international journals (H index 66). He is Executive Editor of the Journal of Hypertension, Section Editor Journal of the American Society of Hypertension, Co-Editor Current Hypertension Reviews, Editor Neuroscience Communication and member of the Editorial Board of several major international journals. In 2014 he has been included in the Top Ten Hypertension Expert Ranking made by Expertscape Ranks World’s Top Scientists.

Dr. Tanaka is a Professor and the Director of the Cardiovascular Aging Research Laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin. He received a B.A. in physical education/martial arts at the International Budo (Martial Arts) University in Japan, a M.S. in human bioenergetics from Ball State University, and a Ph.D. in applied physiology from the University of Tennessee. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship in cardiovascular physiology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Dr. Tanaka’s research interests revolve around vascular aging that manifests as the stiffening (hardening) of large elastic artery and vascular endothelial dysfunction.

Mingyi Wang received his M.D. degree from Norman Bethune University of Medical Sciences, Changchun, China, in 1988, and the M.S. and the Ph.D. degrees from Peking Union Medical College and the Chinese Academy of Medicine Sciences, Beijing, China, in 1991 and 1998, respectively. He finished his postdoctoral training in cardiovascular sciences at the National Institution on Aging (NIA), National Institutes of Health (NIH) under Dr. E. G. Lakatta in 2003. Since then, he has been promoted to the positions of Staff Scientist and Group Leader at the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Sciences, NIA/NIH-Baltimore, Maryland, USA. He is also an adjunct assistance professor, Johns Hopkins School of Bloomberg Public Health, Baltimore, Maryland, USA and a gust professor, Jilin University, China. His research mainly focuses on the underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular remodeling during aging.

Dr. Konstantinos Tziomalos is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the First Propedeutic Department of Internal Medicine of the Medical School, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in AHEPA Hospital, Thessaloniki, Greece. He served as a clinical research fellow at the Department of Clinical Biochemistry (Vascular Prevention Clinic), Royal Free Campus, University College London Medical School, University College London, UK and as a post-doctorate research fellow at the Stem Cell Institute and Cardiovascular Research Laboratory, Division of Cardiology, Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami, USA. He has authored more than 280 peer-reviewed scientific articles, which have received more than 5200 citations.

Doctor Sanchez was graduated as MD, PhD: La Plata, University of La Plata, December, 1972. Specialization in Nephrology - National Academy of Medicine of Argentina and Hypertension (Fellow) at the University of Michigan Medical School and Hypertension specialist of the LASH and University of Guadalajara Mex. Chairman of the Argentina University Career of Hypertension Clinical Specialist - Assistance Professor in Internal Medicine, Universidad Favaloro. Dr Sanchez is currently the Head of Hypertension and Metabolic Unit at Favaloro Foundation in Argentina. Fellow of the American Heart Association. Is author of more than 150 peer reviewed papers and 130 presentation in Hypertension Meetings.

Dr. Manuel Sanchez obtained his PhD degree in Pharmacology at the University of Granada, Spain, in 2007. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Nephrology and Hypertension, University of Utrecht, Netherlands and at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. He joined the faculty of the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Granada and teaches pharmacology and related subjects to bachelor's and graduate students. Accordingly, he has published 50 research articles related to hypertension, endothelial dysfunction, oxidative stress, gut dysbiosis and related topics. Moreover, Dr. Sanchez also serves as a reviewer for numerous international journals.

Professor Shin-Da Lee is current Distinguished Professor and Dean, College of Medical and Health Sciences, Asia University from 2016. Professor in China Medical University (Taiwan) from 2008. He got his PhD degree in Physical Therapy, Nutrition and Exercise Science from State University of New York at Buffalo, USA in 2001. Over 159 SCI journal articles were published. Areas of Specialization include Molecular Mechanisms of Exercise Rehabilitation in Hypertension, Sleep Disorder-related Hypertension and rehabilitation Innovation for hypertension.

Hao-min Cheng was graduated from Faculty of Medicine, National Yang-Ming University, Taipei, Taiwan with the outstanding award among Graduate. He also holds a doctorate degree in Medicine from University of Adelaide, Australia. He has been a cardiologist for more than 15 years with the sub-speciality of interventional cardiology and echocardiography. As an associate professor in National Yang-Ming University, he has been granted the awards of excellence in Clinical and Internship Teaching numerous times. He is currently the director of Centre for Evidence-based Medicine in Taipei Veterans General Hospital, and his research has been focusing on cardiovascular hemodynamics, hypertension management, and evidence-based health care with more than 150 articles published in peer-reviewed journals and several patents in US, Japan, and Taiwan. Meanwhile, he has been involved in editorial and peer-review work of many international SCI listed journals. To achieve the goal of evidence-based health care, he has developed the innovative techniques relating to cardiovascular hemodynamics and endeavoured to facilitate the technology transfer from research to industrialisation.

Mark W. Chapleau, PhD, FAHA, FAAS is Professor of Internal Medicine - Cardiovascular Medicine & Molecular Physiology and Biophysics at The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and Research Health Science Specialist at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. He received his PhD in Physiology from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans in 1985 and has been a faculty member at the University of Iowa since 1989. His research focuses on neural mechanisms in cardiovascular regulation with current projects investigating mechanisms of dysregulation in hypertension, metabolic syndrome, cardiomyopathies and muscular dystrophy.

I am a senior assistant professor of Internal Medicine 1 of Hamamatsu University School of Medicine in Japan. I work not only as a medical doctor but also as a scientist in the field of nephrology and hypertension. Especially, I am a specialist of renin-angiotensin system (RAS) in renal physiology. I have recently clarified the mechanism of circadian rhythm of blood pressure and the RAS in the kidney.

Mahmoud Rafieian-Kopaei obtained his PhD in pharmacology from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom, in 1995. Since then, he has published more than 10 books or book chapters, and 500 articles with over 15,000 citations. His H-index according to Scopus is 58. His main interests are Phytomedicine, Oxidative stress, Cardiovascular disease and Metabolic syndrome. He founded the Medical Plants Research Center in Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences in 2007. Alice Owen is a Senior Research Fellow in the Centre of Cardiovascular Research and Education in Therapeutics in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. Her areas of research interest include the cardiovascular effects of long chain omega-3 fats, epidemiological modelling and community strategies for blood pressure control. Alice is also a senior investigator of the ASPREE Longitudinal Study of Older Persons (ALSOP), a sub-study of the ASPREE clinical trial of aspirin. Alice is a physiologist who undertook her PhD through the University of Adelaide, based at the (then) CSIRO Division of Human Nutrition. She undertook a post-doctoral fellowship at the ARC Key Centre for Smart Foods at the University of Wollongong prior to joining Monash.

Dr Yam is a senior lecturer of pharmacology, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. He received a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences at the Universiti Putra Malaysia, a M.Sc. (Pharmacy) and Ph.D. (Pharmacology) from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia. He finished his B.Med. and Doctor of Medicine from Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China. Dr Yam’s research mainly focuses on the underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms in vascular tone and clinical trial of acupuncture on pain related diseases. Dr. Kırış received his M.D. from Istanbul University, Istanbul, Turkey. He completed his cardiology education and received Assoc. Prof. degree at Karadeniz Technical University, Trabzon, Turkey. Since September 2018, Dr.Kırış is currently working at Medicalpark Karadeniz Hospital, Trabzon, Turkey. Arterial stiffness and detecting of hypertension-induced vascular and myocardial damage are some of the main research areas. Masanari Kuwabara is currently a Chief Physician of Intensive Care Unit and Department of Cardiology in Toranomon Hospital, Tokyo, Japan. He graduated from Tottori University Medical School in 2007. Dr. Luis Gabriel (Gabby) Navar received his Ph.D. in 1966 from the University of Mississippi. Irving H. Zucker, Ph.D. is the Theodore F. Hubbard Professor of Cardiovascular Research and Chairman of the Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He has been Chairman since 1989. Dr. Zucker received his Ph.D. from New York Medical College in 1972. Dr. Zucker has been involved in studies related to the neural regulation of cardiovascular function over the past 45 years. Dr. Zucker has published over 200 papers in this field and this work has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association.

Professor Jacqueline Phillips received her Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from the John Curtin School of Medical Research at the Australian National University. She undertook her postdoctoral training at the University of Auckland, New Zealand and is currently Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Macquarie University, Australia. Her research focus is hypertension and she has published over 75 publications. She is currently an Editorial Board Member of this journal (Current Hypertension Reviews), on the Review Editorial Board for Frontiers in Physiology and Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, and a Special Guest Editor for Autonomic Neuroscience: Basic and Clinical.

My primary objective has been to develop a career in Nephrology, with an emphasis on Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and its treatment. My topical research interests are related with: Overhydration, arterial stiffness, body composition and Cardio-Renal link in CKD patients with or without renal replacement therapies. Currently, I am working as Professor, Diplomatura Terapias Reemplazo Renal, Universidad Nacional Guillermo Brown and invited Professor Facultad Ciencias de la Salud, Universidad Nacional de Entre Rios. Argentina.

Dr. Abiodun Adeseye Akintunde currently works at the Cardiology Unit in the Department of Medicine, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Nigeria. He is a research fellow, Clinical cardiologist and a teacher. He is involved in many ongoing projects including the INVICTUS Trial( Investigation of rheumatic atrial fibrillation treatment using vitamin K antagonists, Rivaroxaban or aspirin studies. Other current project includes Cognitive Function in Nigerian Heart Failure Subjects, economic burden of non-communicable disease and resistant hypertension. His research interest include rheumatic heart disease, heart failure and hypertension.

Currently I´m holding a position as Professor in the school of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina. I also hold a position as Researcher in the Institute of Cardiological Research “Prof. Dr. Alberto C. Taquini” (ININCA) at National Council for Scientific Research (CONICET). I´ve received my degrees of M.D. and Pharmacist in the University of Buenos Aires as well as my Ph.D in pathophysiology from the same institution. My area of interest includes hypertension, metabolic syndrome and the gastro-intestinal renal axis.

Dr. Oliveira-Paula received his PhD in Pharmacology from University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and currently is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, USA. His overall research interests involve the development of a comprehensive understanding of cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying vascular dysfunction and remodeling in cardiovascular disease, aiming to identify potential therapeutic targets. He has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers in the field of hypertension and cardiovascular disease.

With a medical degree from the National Defense Medical Center (Taiwan), and on the basis of receiving his certificate of cardiology in 2009, Dr. Gen-Min Lin was nominated a position in the Faculty of Medicine at Hualien Armed Forces General Hospital (Taiwan), where he initiated research on cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Lin is currently affiliated with this same Hospital of Hualien. Along with the collaboration of Public Health Department in Tzu-Chi University (Taiwan), he used the eastern Taiwan integrated health care delivery system of Coronary Heart Disease (ET-CHD) registry (1997-2006) to complete a series of longitudinal researches for the association of cardiovascular risk factors with cardiac and overall mortality in patients with CHD. Dr. Lin has published numerous SCI journal papers, book chapters, edited/reviewed for various journals of international repute.

Dr Rahime Sımsek is a full professor at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. She completed her masters and Postdoctoral degree from Hacettepe University, Institute of Health Sciences in 1996 and 2000, respectively and continued her post-doctoral studies at Virginia Commonwealth University, the USA between 2001-2003. She has served as a referee for many scientific journals and as a member of the scientific associations. Her main research interests are the design, synthesis, structural elucidation and activity studies of new drug molecules. She has also published approximately 60 research articles in international refereed journals.

Doctor Sanchez was graduated as MD, PhD: La Plata, University of La Plata, December, 1972. Specialization in Nephrology - National Academy of Medicine of Argentina and Hypertension (Fellow) at the University of Michigan Medical School and Hypertension specialist of the LASH and University of Guadalajara Mex. Chairman of the Argentina University Career of Hypertension Clinical Specialist - Assistance Professor in Internal Medicine, Universidad Favaloro. Dr Sanchez is currently the Head of Hypertension and Metabolic Unit at Favaloro Foundation in Argentina. Fellow of the American Heart Association. Is author of more than 150 peer reviewed papers and 130 presentation in Hypertension Meetings.

Dr. Konstantinos Tziomalos is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the First Propedeutic Department of Internal Medicine of the Medical School, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in AHEPA Hospital, Thessaloniki, Greece. He served as a clinical research fellow at the Department of Clinical Biochemistry (Vascular Prevention Clinic), Royal Free Campus, University College London Medical School, University College London, UK and as a post-doctorate research fellow at the Stem Cell Institute and Cardiovascular Research Laboratory, Division of Cardiology, Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami, USA. He has authored more than 280 peer-reviewed scientific articles, which have received more than 5200 citations.
